ABOUT JET
My name is Jet (short for Juliet) and I live in Pinner, North-West London, with my husband and two sons. As a parent of a child with additional needs, I empathise with parents’ concerns for their child's well-being at school, at home and for the future.
ABOUT ME
My professional teaching career has spanned two decades, initially as class teacher and maths subject lead. I was the author of books for the Folens Maths Scheme, including the manuals for struggling students in years 5 and 6. I understand the demands of teaching a class of 30+ children, each with differing strengths and difficulties.
After having children, I began my training in the field of dyslexia and supporting students with specific learning difficulties. I have worked as a specialist dyslexia teacher/assessor both in school and privately. In addition, I can provide training and guidance for parents, teachers and support staff.
My special talent as a teacher/assessor comes from the rapport that I build up with my students, helping to build their confidence and raise their self-esteem.
I am currently continuing my studies, with a goal of getting an MA in dyscalculia.
I am the trustee of a charity called Reading Ladders and a proportion of our profits each year will go towards supporting small group tuition to children and young people who are struggling to learn the skills for reading, due to dyslexic type difficulties.
